Help! Where can I get a hold of this short film?

Eduardo Roy Jr.’s short film, Ang Pinakamahabang One Night Stand (The Longest One Night Stand), has been selected for programming in Reeling 2006: The 25th Chicago Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival, the second oldest LGBT film festival in the world!

Shot in early December last year, the 20-minute film has neophyte actors Venjie Pellena as Paul, Chris Cañizares as Jigs and Gem Cabreros as Sam. Pellena works in ABS-CBN while Cañizares won in a noontime male search and starred in the recently released “Bilog/Circle” directed by Cris Pablo. Cabreros, who heads the Sun.Star Network Exchange (Sunnex) Luzon bureau, is a part-time actor, who has shot for two other short films.

Paul and Sam are lovers who casually invite strangers every night for a ménage-a-trois. Paul will grow tired of the game as his love for Sam deepens. But Sam takes Paul for granted, by having sex with other men in his presence, instead of him. Three is crowd but in this set-up, Paul feels alone. Until Jigs, who will matter, gets into the picture.

Earlier this year, ‘Ang Pinaka…’ was selected as the only Asian short film to compete in the Festival del Mar (Ibiza International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival) in Spain, in what could be a first for a Philippine short film with a gay theme.

What message do you want to impart to the public through “Ang Pinakamahabang One Night Stand”?

“Napakapersonal kasi ng mensahe ng ‘Pinakamahaba’ sa mga taong nasa isang relasyon, hindi lang ng mga bading but in general. May mga tao kasing nagsasabi na kapag hindi ka na masaya sa isang relasyon, umalis ka na at hindi iyon ang pinakita ng short film, ang pinakita eh yung may mga taong pumiling magstay sa relationship kahit na malungkot at di na sila masaya. In reality, may mga taong pinili na maging ganon. Si Paul mas pinili nyang magmahal kaysa ang mahalin at yun siguro ang kasiyahan nya… “ – Eduardo Roy Jr.

Ang Pinakamahabang One Night Stand (The Longest One Night Stand) will be in competition and is vying for a jury and audience award in Chicago.

Eduardo W. Roy Jr. works for ABS-CBN. He wrote “Mangarap Ka”, a teleserye that starred Piolo Pascual and Angelica Panganiban. He is also part of the creative team behind the television series “Spirits” directed by Chito Roño. In 2002, Roy bagged the best short film award given by the Film Academy of the Philippines for his short film “Ulirat”.
