Big Papa ain’t so big afterall
Entry Feed TrackbackIt’s past noon and I just woke up — was at Big Papa last night. Yes, that gay bar in front of KIA in Pasay just off Tramo. It was nothing spectacular. Entrance fee was Php250 (non-consummable), and each customer is required to order 2 drinks at least — SanMig Light was at Php130 each, so yes it was kind of a rip-off. Each dance routine of the macho dancers was the same as the previous one, and the same as the next, except for one macho dancer who bumped his head on the stage for overzealousness, a great comic relief in a set of boring body gyrations. Nothing much to say but I thought there were more eye candies in Adonis. One of my uber excited companions wasn’t too happy too when we left the place. I can’t blame him, he lives right across Gigolo in Timog Avenue.

I haven’t been to a gay bar for quite some time now. Almost 6 months to be eact. I was trying to be a good boy.
But last week, me and my friends met up and went to three gaybars. Why three? The first one was boring so we left after 20 mins. Second was simply filthy so we got up and went. And the third was pathetic. We ended up in Coffee Bean and actually had a fun time just talking of over coffee.
The “macho dancers” aren’t macho anymore. Ke-tataba! Sabi nga namin, dapat “chubby dancers” ang tawag sa kanila. Meron ding ke-papayat. Maganda pa ang katawan ko… at hindi ako gorgeous masyado ha! And their dance, it ain’t that exciting anymore. More like senseless movements trying to pass off as choreography.
Frustrating. This is the word that best describes our evening at the bars. I’d much rather watch boys playing basketball in a village court. Gone are the days of cute, yummy dancers.
Meron ka pa rin namang makikitang guwapo at yummy na mga macho dancers… pero parang mga bangag. Kung hindi naman bangag, mas maarte at mayabang pa sa tagak na nakatung-tong sa kalabaw.
That’s why I just stay home during weekends and watch myself girate in front of the mirror. Naaliw na ako, naka-exercise pa ako. Ha ha ha.
Gorgeous macho dancers… where have you all gone to? Nasaan na kayo?

i used to go to big papa myself. even during the time when they were still on the ground floor. about early this year, they had really great shows. the dancers were exremely beautiful samples of manhood. and so were their manhoods. they were all required to perform at least one number all the way (buck naked) and even had production numbers with the impersonators surrounded by hard-ons.
about two months ago, i went back expecting the same. i was veru disappointed. all the beautiful dancers were gone (some say they moved to white bird or gigolo) and none of those there showed anything. i asked the gay PRO and she said it was because the police were closely watching them now. maybe they forgot to pay. hehehehe.
bottom line, the shows there now are no longer worth the price they still charge.

EVERYTIME I & MY FRIENDS GO 2 A GAYBAR, I ALWAYS MAKE SURE I’M BRINGING W/ ME NOT JUST MUCH MONEY TO FEED THE NEEDY & HUNRY MACHO DANCERS, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THE FULL KNOWLEDGE, ANALYSIS & UNDERSTANDING OF THE PLIGHT OF THESE MUCH DERIDED HUMAN BEINGS. ESSENTIALLY, THEY ARE TRYING TO UPLIFT THEMSELVES FROM AN EXCRUCIATING REALITY OF POVERTY WHICH HAS DEPRIVED THEM OF THEIR RIGHTS 2 ACQUIRE PROPER EDUCATION W/C COULD MAKE THEM BECOME MORE PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS OF OUR COUNTRY. Stop thinking that Macho Dancers are poor in a lot of things. I would say a lot of them suffer the same fate you’re trying to generalize BUT to emphasize the needs and thier shortcomings becomes an insult already. As a matter of fact, there are “Macho Dancers” that has very good education, if not understand more than educated people does. Also, it is not just “a no choice effect”. It is a job and it’s a choice for some. If you do not understand them. Be one, if you can. It takes one to know one. That is the reason I know.

what are you writing about? quit the philantrophist stuff will you! open your eyes! PINOY STRIPTEASERS DO NOT GIVE JUSTICE TO THE ART OF STRIPTEASING! They are too lazy to build their craft and earn from it! They have a different outlook to earning as dancers, They are simply pathetic hustlers!
Imagine since the early ’80s up to now, macho dancing has not evolved to the expectation of a viewer who purposely came to the bar to be entertained and eventually be enticed. I wonder if the proprietors and entertainment managers are aware of this. Do they know that change is what will drive their bussinesses to bigger bottomlines? Are they concerned about improving their acts as they know well they belong in the entertainment industry even if it is a big cover up to prostitution?
I have traveled the world and been to a lot of gay bars to see macho dancers perform. In cities like london, paris, lax, sfo, nyc, toronto, sydney and even in BKK to name a few, strip teasing is an art, an awesome sight to behold. Dancers exert effort to produce a conceptual dance, where performances are visual and sensual when staged. They really sweat to perform and are confident about themselves to bare, regardless they are endowed or merely passing. They know that their dance is a battle of the minds out there and the weaker is for them to conquer. Their dance is mind blowing and eventually at the end, it is for their financial benefit.
In fact, they are proud to tag themselves as stripteasers- relating themselves as legit artists-but abhor to be branded as hustlers. althought the difference is nill, the subliminal implication is worth for you to wax profound to their benefit.
Unlike in manila where stripteasers gyrate senselessly and too timid to tease is indeed a disappointment. On top of all the entrance fees and the minimum charges, it is obviously a commercial trap to sulk in a boring corner of a filthy venue watching some fat and oggling dancers who come to gyrate on stage without any prepared repertoire, mindless if they entertained you or not. Thanks and Kudos to almost all the Gay revue who compensates for the lack and the loss of the lazy macho performers. Establishments like these should know better! They create a stage for their wards to act, then therefore, let them utilize the centerstage for what it’s worth there for!
