McVie, a blogger and friend, commented a beautiful poem in my post about my paranoia (on finding The One). It speaks of reconnecting with one’s self as key to recovery from a failed relationship.
LOVE AFTER LOVE
by Derek Walcott
The time will come
When, with elation
You will greet yourself arriving
At your own door, in your own mirror,
And each will smile at the other’s welcome.
And say, sit here, Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
To itself, to the stranger who has loved you
All your life, whom you ignored
For another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
The photographs, the desperate notes,
Peel your image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
Thanks McVie, with it I am inspired to post some lines from a favorite poem, which I relate to my waiting for The One… (The Four Quartets, by T.S. Eliot)
I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope
For hope would be hope for the wrong thing;
wait without love
For love would be love of the wrong thing;
there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope
are all in the waiting.
Hope you guys enjoy (if not identify with) this emote-emote-an post.
