Hello all!

It's so great to find that the Pride March is being discussed online.:) I'm Nicole, from UP Babaylan. Our organization is a member of Task Force Pride (TFP)the LGBT network that organizes the annual Manila Pride March.

@the author of the post: There are a number of people who have marched and will be marching who aren't out. Personally, I do not think that just because they aren't ready to take this step (outing themselves) makes them any less proud of their sexuality (there are however, as always, exceptions to the rule).

@Jesse, Joe, and any other closeted individuals who would like to March but are restricted by their closet doors: You can watch from a distance, but then again, how else will you be able to feel the safety of being with the flock?:) March with us! Come as you are, or however you feel you are. Now if you think that a costume, a mask, or even a closet will express that, then by all means, march in one! Tutulungan ka pa namin magbuhat kung mageeffort ka talagang magmartsa na nasa aparador.:p But seriously, get in touch with us, we'll find you your place in the march.:)

@Julie: Yes of course our heterosexual supporters can march with us! Actually, we want you there!:) Please do tell your LGBT supporter friends to march as well.:)

@Blonde_skinny_bitch: The Pride March was originally held in June. But since it kept getting ruined because June is one of the Rainy Season months, TFP decided to move the march itself to December when there (used to be?) less rainfall. There are still White Parties held every June though.:)

@Ves: I think you left a comment on the PrideManila website. Rajah Sulayman is actually along Roxas Blvd. It's the park with the fountain right in front of the Our Lady of Remedios/Malate Chursh. I am not all that sure as to how to get to Roxas (last year we marched from Adriatico St to Rajah Sulayman) from the LRT1. I will inquire though.

@everyone: There are also a number of pre-Pride March activities going on. For example, last Saturday, one of the TFP member organizations(Rainbow Rights) held an informal focus group discussion entitled "M2M: A Rainbow Exchange on Living the Gay Life" their gay male counterpart for their Dyke Dialogues. Check pridemanila.wordpress.com or email us for more updates on Pride Month activities.

Also, anyone who would like to march with UP Babaylan is welcome to do so. Just email up.babaylan@yahoo.com

Anyone who has any additional questions regarding the Pride March can contact TFP at tfpmanila@yahoo.com or UP Babaylan at up.babaylan@yahoo.com. We will be more than happy to entertain your questions.:)

March, as if you are not putting up so much pride. The more pride you have, the more wounded you become. March, as if there's bacchanal, and you are hedonist. Carouse, and never be noisily defiant. The more you resist, the more it persists. Act, like you own the world, and not as if you are defending yourself from the world and it's all exorbitant dogmas. Be with the world, and celebrate.
