The Rendezvous with Agent Boytoy

Isang araw, in one of those email exchanges, heto ang natambaran ng long-hair na lola ninyo:

hi migs, it’s me again. pagbalik ko from vacation, i’ll treat you for dinner. sana free ka first week of june. basta my treat! ~ agent boytoy

Sabay nag-cartwheel ang puso kong mamon.

Sabi ng kanta ni Cinderella Jiminy Cricket sa Pinocchio,

When you wish upon a star,
Makes no difference who you are.
Anything your heart desires,
Will come to you.

Yan ang kantang hina-hum ko habang naghihintay sa lobby ng bonggang-bonggang 5-star hotel, ang meeting place namin ni Agent Boytoy, one evening in early June. 8 PM ang call time. At ako, bilang professional actress (ache-che!) ay dumating sa set on the dot, all made up, memorized na ang lines and everything (choz!). I made sure na ang get-up ko eh yung sopistikada ang dating, pero di halatang sobrang nag-prepare. Hello, baka sabihin niya masyado ko siyang pinaghandaan, at lumaki agad ang ulo. So dapat subtle lang ang beauty ko. I wore my no-crease black long-sleeved polo, with matching slim-fit Viktor jeans. Taray!

Then siyempre, like what I learned from my marketing class noong nag-MBA ako diyan sa may Greenbelt, “location! location! location!” Dapat sa unang pagkikita namin ni Agent, eh yung talagang powerful ang dating — kaya naman pumwesto ako sa isang super sosyal na upuan right beside the grand piano. Feeling ko any moment eh bibirit si Manong Luciano Pavarotti (sumalangit nawa) at Ateng Cecilia Bartoli ng isang makabagbag-damdaming awitin sa puntong mag-aabot ang tingin ko sa tingin ni Agent (“Bakit ngayon ka lang, bakit ngayon, kung kelan ang puso ko ay… meron ng Cupcake!”) [Note: Si Cupcake ang gay lover ni Agent Boytoy.]

At habang naghihintay ako sa power leather seat na iyon sa tabi ng grand piano, tumunog at nag-wink-wink ang aking cellphone. “1 Message Received.” Heto na, naisip ko. Heto na siya! Ang text, from Agent:

Dito na ako. See you sa lobby.

Bumilis ang kabog ng dibdib ko. Hala, this is it! This is really is it! MGG meets Agent Boytoy! Sa sobrang panic ko, aba, iniwan ko ang fantabulous scenery ng grand piano at kumaripas ng takbo papuntang gitna ng hotel lobby. Sabay eye sweep 360 degrees paikot, naghahanap ng guwapitong boytoy.

In a few moments, ayun na. Just like what happens in the movies. There he was. Approaching yours truly, like a phantom in glowing white long-sleeved polo. Agent Boytoy, Pinoy blogosphere’s ultimate mystery boytoy, the desire of his every gay reader, my secret crush, my dream date — now in the flesh. Half-smiling, right in front of me.

I asked, “Agent?”

He answered, “Yes. Migs?”

I can’t remember how I responded. I was starstruck. The song echoed in my ears.

Anything your heart desires,
Will come to you.

Indeed, he did.

Next thing I knew, we were seated, face-to-face, just the two of us — the phenomenal Agent Boytoy and Migs the Manila Gay Guy — in a dinner date I will never, ever forget.

  26. Of course he is gay. It’s written all over his blog but on a very subtle note. I think this is what is refreshing about him, sharing his gay perspective but without the usual “kalandian” and the in your face kabaklaan.
