Despite my “world peace” mantra, and the patience I’ve tried to develop all these years, I too have moments when I get affected by reader comments that do nothing but negate me. Tao rin po si Migs the Manila Gay Guy. I am happy that many readers are entertained by my posts here, and I am sad that some assume I make up stories — this is fine though, as anyone can believe what they want to believe, regardless of the truth. What I feel so disappointed about is when some people think they can just bully me around, say nasty things about my person, just because they do not believe what I write here in my own blog.

I never promised to be a paragon of virtue for my fellow gay guys to emulate. Nor did I ever desire to be an icon to be revered. Please don’t assume anything about my intentions. I write about things that pique my interest, about things I believe in, and about things that I experience — believe me, it’s that simple. If you do not like what you read here, I remind you that no one is forcing you to read my blog, so you know what to do. If you insist on defending the truth, well, let me say I am with you.

Now that I’ve said my piece, I will try my very best from hereon in to be silent about this issue. There are so many great and positive things to celebrate. Life goes on, and so shall this blog.

    agree ako kay rommel at atlas. corollary to the power of blogging is the risk of being critiqued, because like any other medium that publishes opinions or just plain information, it is fair game for the readers to react or respond. to be affected is but to be human, but to decry the negative comments because they affect you underscores the lack of appreciation of the power you wield and the corollary risks involved, which is merely the power of society to give opinion as well.

    freedom of speech is not a one-way street. that’s traditional media. blogging is part of the new media. that’s why blogging has become an accessible medium, because of the ability of readers to react instantaneously and with a community.

    published ideas are fair game to criticisms, whether they be constructive or destructive. it comes with the territory. there are no sacred cows.

    it’s ok to get affected. it’s ok to denounce or respond to negative comments. it’s not ok to be appreciative of the positive comments and not the negative ones, for the ability to post positive comments is the same ability used to post negative ones, and more so is the same ability to be able to publish blogs.

    i hope you don’t close the comments section nor your blog, for the former would tantamount to narrowness of the mind while the latter would equal to surrender.

    everyone and anyone who publishes written materials have supporters and detractors. the best writers are those who appreciate both.

    blogging is the same as exposing yourself to the whole world, or at least to your readers, migs. you blog so that readers can read, view and think of what you are or what you do.

    we readers have thoughts and opinions. if you are hurt of the harsh things that some readers leave in the comment section, then close the damn comment section, that easy.

    Nakakatawa kasi lahat kayo na blogs na vinivisit ko regularly like coconuter, vegan prince eh at one time parang masyado kayo affected sa opinyon ng ibang tao. laging may moment sila na “i have decided to stop writing” or the detractors are too much etc etc. Remember this is a blog, its open for everyone. Kanya kanyang opinion kaya its up to you kung papaapekto ka. You can’t please everyone. Write what you want. Alalahanin mo maganda ka hindi tulad ni Malu fernandez na mukhang balyena at walang papatol. I really enjoy your posts and I think you are nice to the core. Don’t get affected, lalo ang mga kapwa bakla kalimitan sila pa unang manlalait sayo. Keep your head up!

    now we know? all of us has it’s own limits… most of the times saying nasty words to make fun ends up in a havoc… guys, grow up! As migs said he is also a “HUMAN BEING” – we all know what it means – dont be so cruel… Why some of us can’t be happy for other’s happiness… It’s a big shame for all of us!
