Marco Morales in “Butas”

Another gay indie is showing as early as this January. “Butas” starring Marco Morales, is going to have a special screening on January 12, 7:30 PM at the UP Film Center, UP Diliman, Quezon City. I’ve read the plot and seen the stills — it’s a bit bolder than usual, so I get this feeling that perhaps the filmmakers are showing more to fill some gaps somewhere. But let me suspend judgment until I’ve actually seen the movie. I don’t plan to watch it though until I read the impressions of the reliable and cerebral movie reviewer, The Bakla Review. Pressure! Hehehe! Meanwhile, enjoy the movie’s promo pics featuring bold and daring Marco Morales.

I saw him on the telly the other day with his co stars gwen garci and that viva hotmen guy. They were playing a game and the loser gets to take off an article of clothing. And man, was he eager to take his shirt off(No complaints here!)! I think he is the hottest guy i’ve seen in recent years and the fact that he is willing to take everything off gets me off every time!

If you want to see him in person, drop by Fitness 1st at Megamall. He’s there weekday afternoons. Quiet type. No fireworks when you see him. Doesn’t exude the aura of a movie star in person. Maybe he’s just projects well onscreen.

Seems like nobody talked about the film itself.
I saw the premiere and could confidently declare that contrary to what Migs said: BUTAS is NOT a GAY FILM.
Still, it is worth watching not because of the number of times Morales shows the family jewels but because it is primarily a competent film. It is NOT a porno film as some people here had alleged. The direction, editing and production design is top-notch. The acting department could be better but Gwen Garci was surprisingly good.
I guess that sums it up: surprisingly good. The director by the way is the acclaimed director of Haw-ang, Alejandro “Bong” Ramos. He made even the explicit and seemingly exploitative nature of some shots absolutely essential to the storyline. Yup, another surprise: there’s a decent story in this more than skin-deep potboiler.
Go watch it, people.

i beg to disagree! butas is a gay film!!
it was an okay film, but lets face it, dinumog ito ng mga bading na gustong makita ang much publicized 12 frontal ni marco.. if not bcoz of that, do you think pupunta magtityaga ang mga bading na pipila ng matagal mapanuod lang ang pelikula..
sa totoo lang nakakabagot ang pelikula.. marco was okay.. but please gwen garci, surpricingly good!! hindi cya marunong umarte, nakakatawa ung mga darmatic moments nya kuno, lol, ung mukha nya, sorry 2 say parang nasobrahan ng bottcks!!
i have to say na kung titi ang hanap nyo, eh panuorin nyo ang pelikula.. eto ay obviously ginawa ng producers na gay market ang target.. maglabas ba naman ng sankatutak na pictures including da frontal of marco a week before the showing of the indie film para cguro ma promote ung pelikula..
katulad ng sinabi ni rd, requirement ngayon ng mga indie producers na mag frontal ang mga male starlet para makuha nila ang pelikula..
sa totoo lang, pwedeng tumayo na mag-isa ang butas movie na yan kahit na hindi mag 12x frontal si marco..

The movie is showing at Robinsons cinemas. There were indeed some frontal shots of Marco, but these were long shots and quite quick. I do not know but there were also a lot of blurred shots during the love making situations. There is no gay sexual encounter in the movie. The movie plot basically is reflective in the title, maraming butas, or many loopholes. Medyo confusing. Anyway, watch it, but maybe you can wait for the video. Baka mas kaunti ang blurred scenes na.

butas is definitely not a gay film, for a movie to be classified as a gay film, the story should tackle gay issues and concerns or at least the main character is gay, but there is nothing gay about the movie butas, not even a slight hint of homo-eroticism… though the movie is being marketed to gays, using Marco’s controversial nude scenes, does not automatically make it a gay movie…
