Migs Echoes Bill Parrish
Entry Feed TrackbackI love the film “Meet Joe Black.” That is why, as we close the workweek, I echo my most favorite movie line, spoken by Bill Parrish (Anthony Hopkins) to his daughter. These are the same words I want to impart to all of you:

I want you to get swept away. I want you to levitate.
I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish.
Be deliriously happy. Or at least leave yourself open to be.
I know it’s a cornball thing but love is passion,
obsession, someone you can’t live without.
If you don’t start with that, what are you going to end up with?
I say fall head over heels. Find someone you can
love like crazy and who’ll love you the same way back.
And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen
to your heart… Run the risk, if you get hurt, you’ll come back.
Because, the truth is there is no sense living your
life without this. To make the journey and not
fall deeply in love — well, you haven’t lived a life at all.
You have to try. Because if you haven’t tried,
you haven’t lived… Stay open. Who knows?
Lightning could strike.

Be deliriously happy. this line means so much to me too. it may indeed sound too cheesy, or too idealistic for that matter pero that’s just the way it is, really. no one ever knows when it’ll come or go. but then again, you’ve lived.
lightning may indeed strike twice

So one of the ways to really experience life is to fall deeply in love and get hurt, either in the midst of a relationship or in the end? I beg to differ…
And I think one of the reasons we stumble and get hurt falling/being in love is that we always use our hearts, we tend not to use our heads along the way; danger signs tell us that this guy is no good, based on our past experiences, yet we proceed. We don’t heed the lessons our brains keep reminding us.
Though I agree with the part that “…Find someone you can love like crazy and who’ll love you the same way back…”. For me, it’s gotta be a two-way street, baby, or it ain’t happening.

This is actually one of the reasons why this is my favorite film, although the love-making by the pool is definitely H-O-T, it is one of the things in life most of us look for – the state of being in that head-rushing-fast-heart-beating-I-am-levitating feeling. O diba! It’s basically living life to the fullest. You open yourself up to everything and everyone and ‘let the chips fall where they may,’ (another great line in the film). Yes, your heart might get broken and it may not; that’s just the beauty of LIVING. You will ‘fall,’ but the test is how well you pick yourself back up.
