gender is not an issue in politics? i remember once in an early year 2000, there was an official (a mayor or sort of) in a town or a city in the philippines who discriminates gays. he once ordered one gay person to be imprisoned in a mausoleum of their cemetery. his reason why he’s not allowing gays in his domain, it’s because of a past experience, he was molested by gays when he was young. this was reported long ago in TV Patrol.
with this kind of issue, Ladlad could be of help.

First, we don’t “go around town” proclaiming our preferences as if they were a badge of honor. We live. Next, homosexuality is an IDENTITY. Not only our preferences define us. Third, we’re capable of living in deep commitment, loyalty, and fidelity with our partners just as you are with your wife. To say then that there’s nothing honorable or normal about same sex marriage or union is an insult. Fourth, we’re not “abusing” the doting attitude of the society toward us; we’re taking it as an opportunity to enjoy our rights and to educate those who are mis-educated about us. Finally, we DESERVE acceptance, not only tolerance.

ako proud to be gay but im not infavor of having LADLAD to represent us in congress dahil matagal ng tanggap sa komunidad ang mga joklas, imagine pati pag rereyna elena na dapat ay exclusive for girls lang dahil its a religious tradition pero kinarir parin ng mga sangkabaklaan at sa tingin nyo dipa ba sapat na basehan yan na tanggap na tayo ng constituents naten. charing lang ni lola remoto ang ladlad in congress, way lang nya yan para makakuha ng malaking pork barrel sa congress, jusko imagine kung sakaling makapasok ang LADLAD sa congress, winner ang lola remoto dahil ang daming datung na pambayad ng mga boylets, gagamitin lang nya ang pera sa pagbabayad ng boys, magkaka sore-throat ang lola sa kaka hitit ng yosi boys haahahaha. magsitigil na tayo sa kaartehan naten dahil di naman tayo dinidiskriminate ng constituents naten infact tayong mga joklas ang umaabuso sa community, imagine isang jokla, bugaw, prosti, tulak sa droga, nang abuso ng menor de edad etc….. gumawa nalang tayo ng mga bagay bagay na makakatulong sa community natin kesa makipag balitaktakan pa sa ladlad bruhahahahah na yan. GAGAMITIN LANG NI MISS. REMOTO ANG PORK BARREL NA PAMBAYAD SA BOYLETS NYA AT SA LAKI NG PORK BARREL MAGKAKA SORE-THROAT SYA KAKA-KAIN NG HOTDOG.

Well, quite obviously he’s talking from his “straight” egoistic, homophobic point of view. He’s just stating his opinion as we do ours in this post. Whether we agree on this or not, there will always be the pro side and the con side. Whether gay marriage got legalized or not, it still won’t be backed up 100%.

Pride might be considered one of the 7 deadly sins, but has anyone never ever went through this one? I must admit that once, I was one of those who thinks\ that if someone’s gay, at all cost you should hide it in order for you not to be the freak of the society we all live in. Then I realized that, a life in denial is a living torture. So is it a sin to fight for something that means your life to you? Is it a sin to fight for something that should be equal and open to everyone?

And another thing…I have to agree with #62 on #35’s comment. the very thought of yourself, agreeing to something that go against what your whole being is all about, I guess that’s the disease you should fight against… Marriage, no matter how you put it, is a symbol of unity and oneness. In the Catholic context, the sanctity of marriage means fidelity, trust, making a healthy and loving family. But all of these, we should all strive to have, no matter how different the setup of a family to another. Gay or Straight, there’s always the chance of destruction of one’s union. That’s why when you’re in a marriage, no matter what it takes, you’re put responsible for whatever’s gonna happen. It is after all a risk that you have a choice to take or not.

To Mr. Tulfo, it is not just the tolerance we are aiming for sir. More than anything, it is respect. Secondly, equality. We’d rather talk about our kind of relationships than all the violence and foul mouth that you were known for. I guess it is more important for you to understand, which I don’t think even in a million years you would ever do, that our kind of people have had our own struggles to be accepted in a society that rejected us long before. You have to be one, to know one, and understand one. Thanks to you though for writing such a commentary for this article of yours makes the other closeted ones and to those who’re almost petrified to speak up to make their first move towards the person who they’re meant to be.

To the homosexuals who think that we are in any way abnormal (Yes, I’m talking to you #35). You can’t agree to people who think you’re a disease! You just can’t let people treat you like crap! This is why fighting for our right to coexist leads to nowhere, because of people like you!!! Please, it’s 2009… wake-up people! Get out of your closets!

So what if gays are going to marry?! It’s not gonna ruin your life…it’s not like war is going to happen. It’s not going to ruin the country!

fact is, legit ang concerns ng ANG LADLAD partylist.

kahit na may mga arguments around the contention that we should never differentiate ourselves from the rest of the mainstream society – meaning, the straights – if we are to push for equality, fact is, there are several localised concerns and grievances na collectively na naeexperience ng mga conventionally rejected people sa macho society natin, ie, PLUs.

halimbawa nalang, kahit na may mga laws na dapat tumutugon sa usapang diskriminasyon sa workplace, eating establishments, and what-not, ay patuloy pa din ang pangkukutya at pagdidiscriminate against sa atin. may mga restaurants na hindi nagpapapasok ng mga cross-dressers, may mga bading na ginagawan ng mga nakakademean na video kapag naoospital (think canister scandal), may mga bading na nadidiscriminate sa workplace, etcetera etcetera.

fact is, kahit na napakasarap isiping tayo ay kumakawala na sa kultura ng machismo sa bansa natin, at (tayo ay) liberalising na kuno, ay repulsive pa din ang status quo, at ang consensual majority sa mga gains towards sexual liberation.

kung ang mga inutil na mga organisasyong tulad ng butil, etcetera etcetera, na halata namang front lang ng mga messianic religious groups na nais humakot ng political leverage sa pilipinas (kahit na halata namang walang klarong advocacy) ay pinagbibigyan ng comelec ng pagkakataong sumali sa party list race, bakit hindi Ang Ladlad?

mas halata at mas progresibo ang maibibigay ng Ang Ladlad sa pagmamature ng antas ng pulitika sa bansa natin, di hamak, lalo na sa pagbabasag ng mito na ang mga straights lang ang may karapatang humulma ng tadhana nating lahat — at dapat di tayo tumigil sa pagsusulong nito.

hindi tayo mga aswang na kailang i-exorcise, at lalong hindi tayo mga masasamang ehemplo sa mga kabataan. kabaliktaran ang propagandang kanilang isinusulong at bilang mga mulat na mga mamamayan, dapat nating ipagpatuloy ang laban ng Ang Ladlad — sapagkat simula pa lamang ito ng mas mahaba, mas komprehensibo, at mas makabuluhang pakikibaka laban sa mga elementong tulad ni tulfo, ni commisioner, at mga mamayang tulad nila, na pilit nagbubulag bulagan sa mga lehitimung isyung ito.
