How has 2009 changed you?

Migs Speaks 32 comments

It’s just 2 days before the year 2009 comes to a close, and I thought, how has this year changed me? How different am I now, compared to the same time last year? What are the events in 2009 that greatly impacted me? Who are the key people in 2009 that most contributed to my growth and expansion as a person? And perhaps, one last question, what decisions did I make that made me much different now than who I would be had I not made that decision? (In short, how did I change myself in 2009?)

It would be great if you could share your own year-end reflections here. (more…)

“Straight ako when I was in high school, but now…”

Gay Confusion, Letters 43 comments

Hi Migs!

I am fond of reading your blog.
I am Ayan. Straight ako when I was in high school, I’m sure of that. Marami akong naging girlfriend nun. Until one time, I need to have a tutorial in Math because of my low grades. so i went to my tutor’s apartment at around 6pm. he is one of the best math teachers in my school by that time, but he didn’t handle our class. i am well-known in our school, that’s why he offered me his help. Malakas ung ulan nung gabing nun, i didnt bring my umbrella so i got wet.. when i entered his apartment, he told me to take off my clothes baka daw sipunin ako. hinubad ko naman kasi ok lang naman siguro un parehas naman kaming lalake, walang malisya un. Makabuluhang Pasko, Mula Kay Migs

Migs Speaks 22 comments

Naging makulay at buhay na buhay ang taong 2009 para sa akin, at napakalaking parte noon ang pagkakaroon ng blog na ito. I realize how lucky I am for having such a big audience for my stories, my thoughts, my frivolities, my follies, my triumphs, my silence. Lucky not for anything else, but for being able to share my life with such a wide audience. It’s as if my life has richer meaning and is indeed bigger than just living for myself. Mas may katuturan, may kabuluhan. (more…)

Fabcast: The Pride and The Power, Part 1

Issues, Podcasts 2 comments

This fabcast was recorded after the Pride March (so I was still in the US, thus I’m not in this recording). Let’s hear it from co-fabcaster Gibbs Cadiz:

Recorded a couple of weeks ago with a fairly frisky and opinionated peanut gallery, who trade thoughts and ideas with us on the then just-ended Pride March and the earlier outrageous Comelec decision disqualifying Ang Ladlad for party-list accreditation on grounds of “immorality.” The opinions run the gamut–from those who think marching and seeking a place in Congress isn’t needed anymore (or at least not what they can relate to for now), to those who think it’s the next crucial step toward further acceptance, and not merely toleration (more often condescension), by society. I lay down my position quite early, with much sardonic laughter but also every word meant: Kung moralidad lang naman ang pag-uusapan, wala na sigurong matitira sa Kongreso. At sa Comelec. Change “wala na” to “konti na lang”, and I’d also include the Church. Whee. Do join the hearty huddle.

Rod, the MGG reader from Pampanga

Migs Speaks 31 comments

I met Rod last year, in April 2008. He’s a regular here in MGG, he claims, and he so wanted to meet me. In one of our earlier email exchanges, I asked him, “Rod, why do you want to meet me?” He answered:

Parang ikaw si Kris Aquino, you influence us. :)

I think it would be interesting to meet you. What’s with Migs? How is he in person? Constant reader ako ng love story mo with the actor, the basketball player and this recent guy who appeared in cc’s blog. And even that Boracay EB. :) … and now, it’s more than a year.

Pinarinig ko rin with my straight friend, all your podcasts, which discussed long distance relationships.

Pasko at ang nagbalik na seaman

Letters, Love and Dating 44 comments

Dear Migs and all MGG readers,

I have been seeing someone for almost several months now and have been quietly developing a deepening relationship with him. All the proper steps toward furthering the relationship are already there. We see each other almost every day and we still feel na kulang pa. He knows my family, I know his. We’re total opposites. I, an independent and self-employed individual in an extremely creative job and he, a pencil-pusher and is upwardly mobile in a corporate job. He’s highly-strung. I am as laid back as a feather flying freely in the soft wind. Despite the differences we’ve slowly built a good harmony. I am his ying, he’s my yang. Last week, I already gave him a copy of the keys to my apartment. (This is something I have never done before and is a huge step for me.) Things are going smoothly until… (more…)
