Love and Dating, Migs Speaks Entry Feed Trackback

new_york_1 “Migs, I like you. I like you. I like you.”

Walang stir, mga p’re. I’m laying out the climax right up front. Si Joseph yan, siya ang nagsabi niyan, while we were in intimate mode in his New York apartment. “Migs, I like you. I like you… I like you.” I confirm, tatlong beses niyang inulit, may pause pa after the second time. So diyan pa lang, makalaglag karsonsilyo na, di ba? Pero teka, backtrack tayo ng konti para keri ninyo ang konteksto. So, heto.

* * *

Joseph is a doctor-in-residency sa New York, and upon his invitation in February (while we were both in Manila), binisita ko siya sa New York. Itinaon ko ng Thanksgiving weekend, para wala akong trabaho at, yaman din lamang na unang beses ko itong bumisita sa Big Apple, nang makapamasyal na rin nang bonggang-bongga. At siyempre, dahil gusto ko rin sanang mag-spend ng, ehem-ehem, quality time with my buddy Joseph.

But the other side of this is, since sa apartment ni Joseph ako nakatira the whole time, almost every night, kami ang magkasama. While relaxing from a long busy day — siya from work, ako from lakwatsa — we spend intimate times talking, conversing, connecting.

* * *

Just the two of us. While ice-cold wind blew against the window pane outside, inside, the strength of our connection, fueled by deep conversation, grew and grew, as if what I breathe in is the exact same air he just breathed out, and vice versa; in the end I felt we were so close, close like lung to lung, that I find myself barely breathing without the contact.

* * *

We were talking about our college experiences, common friends, and events we shared as young men in UP Diliman… nakakatuwa. He was seated in his reading chair, and I was relaxing in his loveseat. I was enjoying the conversation, and at the same time, tutok na tutok ako sa kanya: I was admiring his facial features, his beautiful smile, his fine skin… Ang ganda ng lighting, kasi malamlam ang ilaw, romantic, ika nga. Then he said, “teka Migs, may beer ako sa ref. Inom tayo.” To which I replied, “sure!”

He stood up to get two bottles in the ref; I stood up too, to help out sana. WIthout a word he just waved his hand as if to say, “ako na, just relax.” So I did, and for some reason, instead of going back to the loveseat, I sat on his reading chair. I felt his warmth, the warmth his body left in that chair. And as I sat and sank in it, his warmth enveloped me, making me warmer inside.

Hindi ako nagpahalata. We continued the conversation, about one particular event, then I paused, thinking. He paused too. I broke the silence with a casual observation, one that I dug up from the folds of my brains. That obviously struck a chord in him. That’s when he turned to me. And those words, those fateful words, came darting, like lightning, from his mouth to my ears, straight to my heart —

“Migs, I like you. I like you… I like you.”
