Who is America’s Next Top Model? (Cycle 11)
I’m here in Southern California and currently glued on the TV — because while I rarely, rarely watch television, I am religiously following Tyra Bank’s America’s Next Top Model (yes, partner influence, hehehe!). Tonight they reveal the grand winner. Currently, 3 remain, namely Samantha Potter, McKey Sullivan, and Analeigh Tipton. Partner has been rooting for Analeigh since the start, while I was for the wicked and mean Elina Ivanova — but when Elina got eliminated I latched on to McKey Sullivan. Now Analeigh and McKey are head-to-head, with dark horse Samantha on the side. In a couple of hours we’ll see who wins Warning! SPOILERS AHEAD. (more…)
Hang in there, I’ll give updates here.

Tiggah & Pooh, and their inspiring love story
18 commentsTiggah, a Filipino based in California and blogger celebrity in his own right, tells the world about his cute (kakilig!) love story with his Pooh. They have been together for 7 long years — wow di ba! So it’s really interesting to know how they as a couple came to be. Here’s an excerpt of Tiggah’s account:
I can remember when Pooh first came out to me. I was shaking, nervous, and anxious. My palms were sweaty and I couldn’t look him in the eye. I was surprised and didn’t know what to say. How could my straight best friend of 2 years suddenly tell me that he’s gay? Deep inside I knew that I felt that way because I had a crush on him all this time but knew that nothing could ever come of it because he was straight. It’s a strange feeling to finally come to terms and accept the fact that it could never happen, then suddenly, in an instant, a door opens. A door of opportunity seemed to have magically appeared out of nowhere. The question would seem to be – Do I rush right in before that door suddenly closes? Do I enter with caution? Or do I do nothing?

The Dave Rebolledo Scandal That Wasn’t
117 comments
I just got a call from Jay Javier, well-known photographer and owner of Fotofabrik Studio in Quezon City. Let me just say that I have personally met Jay early this year during Jay Aquitania’s shoot for Roxxxanne. Jay impressed me as a kind, generous, and good-natured person, and therefore I take his word as honest and sincere. He categorically said that it was him who took the Dave Rebolledo photos now in circulation in the blogosphere, showing the model baring the full monty — problem is, Dave was not really in the nude when those photos were taken.
Jay told me how a certain Photoshop expert named Paolo stole the original Dave Rebolledo pics from his office’s computer (Paolo worked in Jay’s office for a time), and “adjusted” the photos to show Dave in the buff. He swears how good this Paolo is in Photoshop that he can do that kind of magic.
To prove to me that he was indeed the photographer of the original, un-Photoshopped photos, he sent the following images that came from the same set. (more…)

Gay Saints?

Andrew Sullivan’s telling of the tale needs no rephrasing or embellishment–so here it is, verbatim.
The Last Laugh of Cardinal Newman
The Vatican, in preparation for the beatification of John Henry Newman, decided to disinter the famous cardinal’s remains from the burial ground he wanted. Why? Well, it is not unusual to re-bury saints, but it is also undeniable that the Vatican was worried about Newman’s stated desire to be buried next to his great love, Ambrose St John. From Wiki:
“[Newman] had stated on three occasions his desire to be buried with his friend, including shortly before his death in 1890: ‘I wish, with all my heart, to be buried in Fr Ambrose St John’s grave–and I give this as my last, my imperative will’, he wrote, later adding: ‘This I confirm and insist on.’”

Part of Your World by Nick Pitera
11 commentsThe kapatids will kill to have this voice and talent. Amazing, amazing, amazing — that’s Nick Pitera.
What would I give if I could live
Outta these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day
Warm on the sand?
Betcha on land they understand
Bet they don’t reprimand their daughters
Bright young women, sick of swimmin’
Ready to stand
And ready to know what the people know
Ask ‘em my questions and get some answers
What’s a fire, and why does it
What’s the word? Burn
When’s it my turn?
Wouldn’t I love?
Love to explore that shore up above
Out of the sea, wish I could be
Part of that world
PLUS another fantastic performance (One Sweet Day):

Rustom Padilla at the 2008 Urian Awards Night
50 commentsIn that much celebrated coming-out scene in a Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition episode, Rustom said “I have no choice, I am gay… but hindi ako masamang tao…” He knew of his sexual preference even when he was young, manifesting it by playfully wearing girl’s clothes which his father saw one time and which angered him of course. His mom, Eva Cariño, berated him as well, it was said.
Then, cut to…
During this year’s Urian Awards, where he presented the Best Actor Award, Rustom with nary a care for what other people might say, proudly displays his real self, the girl within. You go, gurl! Hehehe!

Philippine Daily Inquirer, Feb, 7, 2005
DARE to struggle, dare to win … as married gays. After raiding a few Army camps, two communist guerrillas hid in a forest gorge and fell in love.
Deeply.
That was three years ago. On Friday, under a romantic drizzle in a muddy clearing in Compostela Valley province in Mindanao, Ka Andres and Ka Jose exchanged vows in a heavily guarded ceremony before local villagers, friends from the city and their comrades in arms. (more…)
