Fabcast: The Talented Mr. Ripley, Part 3 (the conclusion)

Love and Dating, Podcasts 17 comments

Fablogo2 FIN Corporate Closet (CC) is one of my smartest, most accomplished friends. He is a CEO of a billion-peso company, graduated at the top of our MBA class, and if you have the chance to talk to him even casually, you will not fail to notice that he is sharp of mind and wits. But, as his own story shows, even the sharpest, most intelligent beings have hearts that aren’t exempted from falling; and sometimes falling foolishly. This is the last part of CC’s sharing of his story with his Mr. Ripley. He fell for the guy whom he met online, and despite all tell-tale signs, he pursued. Unfortunately, it was Mr. Ripley, and he was indeed talented. Listen in, and drink from the wisdom of a true story, a real experience, and some lessons learned from our dear Fabcasters.

Fabcast: The Talented Mr. Ripley, Part 2

Love and Dating, Podcasts 10 comments

This is the part where Corporate Closet (CC) details the heartbreaking story and climax of the disappearance of his Talented Mr. Ripley. Sad, sad story. Made me think: how can one brain so sharp have a heart so gullible? But then again, what use is a heart that’s exempted from folly? This is a story not just a few can identify with. Listen (16 min 38 sec).

Because I Knew You, I Have Been Changed

Migs Speaks, Podcasts 19 comments

Today in 2006, I first met Joel McVie in person. Previous to that, I was an online follower, a blog fan, to his The McVie Show. Reading his posts, I was entertained and inspired. I thought to myself, I would want to have a friend like that. Smart, witty, funny… someone who is so sure of himself, so confident, enough to not take himself too seriously. And so on November 4, 2006, a Saturday, we met. I was accompanied by several friends, one of them was Gibbs Cadiz, who took blogging more seriously just a couple of months before that. So there we were, in Greenbelt, at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, chatting away. It was such a fun first meeting. Little did we know that that one evening would change the course of our lives. At least from my perspective.

* * *

A couple more months after that, I floated the idea of recording gay-themed podcasts — with Joel McVie, Gibbs Cadiz, and I as the original podcasters; the triumvirate later would be named The Troikasters. If you listen to those recordings now, you would see that I was still quite serious, somehow uptight. McVie was already his bubbly, witty self, with countless hirits. And Gibbs? Yeah, he’s the same intellectual, opinionated guy, always ready with his, ermmm, sermons. Hehehe! (Labya Gibbs!) Our combination was almost perfect. Almost – until we met several more entities. Gibbs, McVie, Tony, CC, Kiko, and yours truly chat with him and endeavor to find out what goes on in the mind of someone whose glistening lean body we know so well. Paano Ba Ang Magka-Jowa? (A Fabcast, Part 2)

Love and Dating, Podcasts 17 comments

This is one of those few Fabcasts that got so many responses, and seems people have been waiting for this second part. So here it is!

Dear friend CC (CorpCloset) owns the opening lines to this second part, he says, “Focus na tayo kay McVie!” And indeed we did!

Dahil nga naman pagjo-jowa ang usapan, at dahil sa aming grupo, si Joel McVie na lamang ang hindi nakakaranas magkaroon ng jowa ever in his life, napagkaisahan na gawin siyang focus ng discussion. In the first part, we dished out generic recommendations on how to get hitched, in this episode, we went another level closer to reality by discussing McVie’s case. You will hear brutally honest suggestions peppered with okrays and laughters, the signature fabcast in its high energy, high volume form, for you to enjoy and really just laugh with.

Paano Ba Ang Magka-Jowa? (A Fabcast)

Love and Dating, Podcasts 37 comments

The Fabcasters (Gibbs, McVie, Tony, CC, and yours truly) plus Kiko (is he gonna be a regular fabcaster?) talk about gay relationships, particularly addressing the question — paano nga ba magka-jowa ang isang bading? Saan ba magandang maghanap ng potential partner? Dapat ba hindi na muna mag-sex during dating para maging seryoso ang man-to-man relationship?

These questions, and many more, are answered in this fabcast. Go, listen!

Ex-Closet Case Kiko Guests in Fabcast

Gay Confusion, Podcasts 27 comments

Kiko is one of the featured letter-senders here in MGG (see “Not A Single Gay Bone In My Body“) Life events brought him to us (the Fabcasters), in person, and thus he guests in this podcast. A lot of our brothers in the closet, and those still in the confused stage would identify with Kiko. He wrote us a letter about his situation in January 2008, after almost 2 years, he has evolved. How? Listen in and pick the brains of someone who’s been in the closet and has recently mustered enough guts to enjoy the freedom of being out of it.
