That song just popped in my mind as I saw these photos sent to me as PR for this new movie by Cris Pablo’s Queeriosity/Sinehan Digitales, “Boylets.”

Sinehan Digitales presents a QUEERiosity Project: “Boylets”

How far will you go to prove your worth? Yes, how far will it take you to realize your worth? Teenaged Krys is simply starting his day intending to prove himself to his father. But when breakfast starts terribly wrong, Krys runs away and meets a group of adolescents from the slum area near their new apartment. Lost and confused, Krys spirals with his new friends as they prove, test and evaluate their own worthiness as well. And this means some gambling, stealing, flirting with girls, servicing matured gay patrons, and experiencing sex and a hint of love.

Boylets casts young actors who are not professional celebrity performers but young men who have gone through similar stages in their lives.

The movie stars JOEFFREY JAVIER, CHARLES DELGADO, RUSTY ADONIS, and FRANCIS SIENES. Directed by CRISALDO PABLO. Showing on OCT.14, 2009 @ Robinsons Galleria, Remar Cinema Cubao, Isetann Recto, Cebu

The “-er” looking star of the indie film “Troika” resurfaces via Ian Felix Alquiros Photography. Here’s Jamil Basa. Still “-er” and boy, I’d say fresh-er, and yummi-er too. Enjoy!

More here.

BoY is the newest gay-themed indie film of director Auraeus Solito.

BoY” is a coming-of-age story about a boy who falls in love with a Macho Dancer. A young budding poet (Adam Asin), who is unnamed, observes lip-synching drag-queens and dancing rent-boys in a gay bar one evening and finds himself attracted to Aries (Aries Pena), who comes from a poorer part of town. Selling his action heroes and comic books so as to be able to afford Aries for one night, he buys Aries at the bar and brings him home for the new year. Sparks fly while celebratory fireworks go off outside the house and the boys forge a fragile connection that neither of them is certain will last. This is an idealistic, coming-of-age tale of a sensitive boy who arrives at his first lesson about love and who learns to grow confidently into his own sexuality. [source]

BoY is going to be shown on July 24/Fri, 6:15PM at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theatre).

The Bakla Review (TBR), the undisputed expert in Philippine gay film criticism, says of the movie “Dose” —

There’s no nudity, and a “penetration” consummates only towards the end, but Dose is a decidedly sexual journey. It’s the story of a boy’s coming of age, yet the genius of the movie is that it acknowledges the boy’s sexuality as something to be anticipated and inevitable, a thing of the future, but also a tactile presence, already happening… I found it touching, funny, sad, and exhilarating. This is a gay coming of age that’s deeper, braver, edgier than Ang Pagdadalaga Ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros) or Ang Lihim Ni Antonio (Antonio’s Secret).

TBR says more here (a full review), and then in the end gives the film an “A” rating. I missed the movie when it was shown last year, but here’s good news from Senedy Que, the director of “Dose”:

hi. hope all is well … my directorial debut, “Dose,” will have a one-week engagement at Robinson’s Galleria Indiesine July 1 to 7. It stars Yul Servo, Emilio Garcia, and introducing Fritz Arvhie Chavez as the 12-year-old boy at the center of this disturbing tale about love, lust, and loss of innocence … In Dose, love knows no age or gender. senedy que

July 1 to 7, then. See you there.

jake_roxas_whp2 Promo pics for “Walang Hanggang Paalam” — here’s Jake Roxas in high resolution (click on the photo to get the high res version). (Promo text follows.)

In this Paolo Villaluna & Ellen Ramos film, Jake plays a gay private detective who is hired to look for a runaway girl (Lovi Poe) but bfore finding her, he must find himself first. He has a lover (Rico Barrera) who is unfaithful to him.

Jake turned down “Selda” before and he regretted it. Now, he gets a chance to sink himself into a real good role in “WALANG HANGGANG PAALAM.” The film will have a premiere on Sunday, February 8 at 8 pm at Robinson’s Galeria.

2586359501_bbba0d9362 I love “Jay,” and I mean that indie movie which is also Francis Xavier Pacion’s directorial debut, and Cinemalaya 2008 Best Picture winner. It opens uncut today, February 4, in select SM Cinemas (SM North, Megamall, Southmall, MOA, Fairview, San Lazaro, Manila, Sta. Mesa, Cebu, Davao, Pampanga, Clark). If only for Baron Geisler’s superb acting, go watch. And for those asking, for those super curious: guys, the movie is really worth much, much more than Baron’s 2-second frontal flashing, ok? So go watch!
