2 AM – chat sa Grindr.
“O, you’re still online.”
“Yeah.”
“Malalim na ang gabi, gising ka pa.”
“Ikaw, ba’t gising ka pa rin?”
“Kadarating ko lang sa bahay, I drove for a friend.”
“Wow ambait. Can you drive for me too?”
“I can drive you… crazy.”
“LOL. Serious. As in now.”
“Sure. San mo gusto pumunta?”
“I don’t know.”
“Sige ako bahala.”
“But I’m sleepy.”
“I promise to drive you back to your hotel kapag inantok ka habang kasama ako. Ano, game?”
“Hmmm… we can, but I can’t promise I won’t sleep on you.”
“Hmmmm… sleep on me? Double meaning, I like that.”

“Ang konti lang ng users ng Grindr sa Pinas.”
“Konti lang kasi ang ‘can afford’ makabili ng iPhone.”
“Sabagay. Pero in fairness, naka-apat na akong meet-up through Grindr. Pang-apat ka.”
“Talaga? Kamusta naman yung naunang tatlo? How are they?”
“Yung una ok lang. Nice guy.”
“Then?”
“Then yung pangalawa, ok din, nice din, pinoy na based in Canada. Bumisita lang. Nice guy rin.”
“Puro nice guy, ah. Yung pangatlo?”
“Ah, yung pangatlo. Very nice guy. Very, very nice guy.”
“Hmmm… ano ibig sabihin nun.”
“Yung pangatlo, naka-tatlong meet-up na kami.”
“Wow.”
“Wow talaga. Ang galing chumupa. Ang sarap gumiling.”
“…”
“May partner daw siya, kaso di sila gaanong nagse-sex. Kaya ayun. Nasarapan yata sa akin ng husto.”
“…”
“Hayop sa kama. Hayok. Sarap.”
“…”
“Natahimik ka diyan. Oo, may lover siya. Is that bad?”
“Tinatanong pa ba yun?”
“Siya ang may partner, basta ako single. Is that a crime?”
“No it’s not a crime. You are the crime.”

(Note: Grindr is an iPhone application for gay men who want to get to know other gay men in their local vicinity. It shows the user other users who are nearby, ranked according to the distance that separates them, e.g. 1200 feet away, 2.3 miles away, 5 miles away, etc. The Grindr folks are planning on creating other versions of it for other phone platforms, e.g., Blackberry, Symbian OS, etc.)
