Cam Boy Chat

Contribution 27 comments

[Here's another contribution from Lex Bonife.]

asl, pare?

Of God and Blow Jobs

Contribution, Issues 45 comments

(This article is a contribution from Lex Bonife, screenwriter and Yoga instructor.)

I bumped into screenwriter Ramon Bayron (Abakada, Ina) and he was ecstatic to share his thoughts on our film “Ang Lihim ni Antonio” (Antonio’s Secret). He liked the existentialism of the material and all. I was surprised that Mr. Bayron liked the film despite him being very religious. And he caught me by surprise by asking a very thought-provoking question.

“Why would God be concerned with men sucking each other’s penises when there are millions of other life-threatening and earth-shaking problems in this world?”

Nang Tigasan ang Tigasin

Gay Confusion, Issues 15 comments

Here’s an interesting experiment involving two groups of straight men: Group 1 is composed of men who bash gay men, mga tigasing galit sa bading. Group 2 is composed of men who are cool with gay men, keri lang sa kanila ang mga bading. Both groups were made to watch M2M (man-to-man) porn, and their putotoy’s reactions measured and recorded. Whose putotoys reacted more — guys from Group 1, or those from Group 2? Interested to know the results? Well then head on to the blog of Lex Bonife, famous writer of gay movies “Ang Lalake sa Parola,” “Ang Lihim ni Antonio,” and “Kambyo.”

That Beautiful Love Scene

Hunks, Movies and Music 28 comments

Viva’s dynamic duo Jay Altarejos and Lex Bonife dished out a refreshingly funny gay film by way of Kambyo. I was at the premiere night at Cine Adarna (UP Diliman) and while I thought the story was really quite thin — it was okay, given that the goal of the film is to be mostly entertaining. There are two things I distinctly remember about the movie: first is that beautiful, beautiful love scene between Johnron Tanada and Rayan Dulay. It was passionate and real. Technically, I would say the images were really very well shot — ang ganda ng lighting! And the second thing that I really enjoyed in the movie was Harold Macasero playing the funny character of Xavier. Ang galing-galing mo Harold, bow ako sa iyo ‘teh! Hehehe!

Catch this entertaining movie as it is shown at Robinson’s Galleria, Robinson’s Place Ermita, and Robinson’s Metro East starting July 9, 2008.

Gay Indie Films Galore

Movies and Music 30 comments

Gone are the days when gay men figure in movies only as comic relief, thanks to the very vibrant indie film community. I remember this trend start some years back when Cris Pablo dared to produce “Duda/Doubt.” Since then a good number of non-conventional gay movies have been produced (some good, some not so — but that’s fine; I’ll give them all an “A” for effort). In fact in the coming days, there will be 3 indie films, all gay-themed, that will be shown. Nood tayo!

Since “Ang Lalake sa Parola” I’ve become a fan of Lex Bonife and Joselito Altarejos. Here comes another obra from this duo, “Ang Lihim ni Antonio.” The Director’s Cut Premiere will be at the UP Film Institute on February 4, 2008 (Monday). Regular showing will start on February 13 at Robinson’s Galleria, Robinson’s Ermita and Cebu.

Antonio (Kenji Garcia) is a curious fifteen-year-old boy who is beginning to come to terms with his own sexuality. Although his straight best friend, Mike (Jiro Manio), has been supportive of his coming out, his first sexual conquest has led to the destruction of his friendship with his other best buddy, Nathan.

Ang Lalake Sa Parola

Gay Confusion, Movies and Music 46 comments

“For a gay relationship to work, dapat tanggap nilang pareho ang kanilang mga sarili.” (Jay Altarejos, Director, Ang Lalake Sa Parola)

This holiday season I had a chance to watch the movie Ang Lalake Sa Parola. Despite a number of negative reviews I read about the film, I personally liked it. Minus the pathetic acting, and perhaps the erratic pacing, I reckon the movie to be a sensitive one, a Pinoy gay movie that has both brains and balls. Given the chance, I’d like to congratulate and shake the hands of Jay Altarejos (director) and Lex Bonife (writer).

The DVD is now out, I encourage you to get a copy and watch. After the jump, watch “Ang Pelikula Sa Parola,” the behind-the-scenes special, included in the DVD.
