Bye Manila, My Love, Hello California!

Love and Dating, Migs Speaks, Movies and Music 30 comments

Here I go again, my perfunctory trip to the US. I’m writing this post while waiting for my flight to Los Angeles, California. I was a bit emotional leaving the house kanina, knowing I’ll miss my partner during the 3 weeks that I will be away. Haaayyy… and so just as I finished packing my stuff this afternoon, I went bloghopping. I found a treasure of a song, just right for the moment — it’s Kirsten Dunst singing Dream of Me. Beautiful song! I dedicate this to my partner, Marco. Why am I writing this very personal post? Well, I figured it’s just right for me to declare my love to the person who I have been with for the past 6 months — too bad I’ll be away when we celebrate our 6th monthsary. Mahal, in front of the 40,000+ readers of my blog, here’s the song “Dream of Me,” and I dedicate it to you. Advanced happy monthsary! (more…)

Walang Kawala – SRO Premiere Night!

Movies and Music 30 comments

Walang Kawala Screening - SRO I was at last night’s Director’s Cut screening of Joel Lamangan’s Walang Kawala at the UP Film Institute. It was a mostly (~90%) gay men crowd, and as a friend said, “ansaya ng get together!” Another friend quipped, “ansarap ng feeling kapag nasa crowd ka na overpowered ng bading ang mga straight!”

Why was “Walang Kawala” such a hit? I think the promo photos did it. And the buzz about Marco Morales‘ two-time frontal exposure. The movie itself was palatable enough, in fact Emilio Garcia as the contravida had really funny scenes, such a welcome comic relief to the suspense/thriller that the film was suposed to be.

Marco Morales Lets It All Hang Out

Hunks, Movies and Music 25 comments

Full frontal nudity among Pinoy actors was taboo in the past. Now it seems de rigueur in adult movies. There was Harold Montano in Dante Mendoza’s Urian-winning “Tirador.” Then, Coco Martin and Kristofer King in the controversial Cannes entry “Serbis,” also directed by Mendoza.

Now, Marco Morales lets it all hang out in Joel Lamangan’s “Walang Kawala,” not just once, but twice! Although the two scenes made it to the Director’s Cut, which will be screened at the censorship-free UP Film Center tomorrow, it’s highly unlikely they would be shown in the commercial run that starts Nov. 12. Hooking Up in Metro Manila

Podcasts 78 comments

I was in a Starbucks shop in Manila recently with no other than DowneLink’s infamous Dencio. He was with Paulo, his beloved partner (also of Closet Badets). We were waiting for Marco (the third guy who completes the triumvirate of the Closet Badets) who was then coming from a nearby school. To while away the time, I was teasing him about his almost magical prowess to hook up whenever he wanted, that was when he was still unattached. So the idea of a quickie interview came up — maybe I’d let Dencio give us some basic instructions on how to get laid in oh-so-gay Manila. Listen and learn.

Gotta Go My Own Way

Love and Dating, Movies and Music 26 comments

Hello dear MGG readers! One of my friends, Gabby, has this interesting story to tell about his struggles straddling the fine line between friendship and love. I urged him to write it down so you dear loyal MGG followers can read and comment on his situation, a sticky, sticky one. Here’s Gabby’s story…

* * *

Elmer’s letter to migs in his post kinda inspired me to write this down in full.
You see, he and I are kinda in the same boat — if you think of the boat as the titanic and he and I are just on different decks.
Like elmer, i’ve also grown attached to someone I probably shouldn’t be.
I first met boris a couple of years back. He and I were introduced in a party in capone’s. my friends wanted to set me up with someone, 6 months after coming out of a bad break up with my first and only boyfriend. Yes — unlike elmer — im gay. And unlike marco –boris is also a certified person like us.
Boris however didn’t strike me very well the first time. No — he wasn’t ugly — but he also to my eyes then — did not strike me enough to forget my ex. Sure he kinda fit into my mold-type— he was chinito — but it ends there. He wasn’t as witty, prolific, sarcastic (which I find soooo sexxxyy), sophisticated, well-versed, funny, culturally inclined and he didn’t have the right kind of jologs to make him humble enough for my taste. He wasn’t as loquacious and exciting.
Yet something about boris’s being down to earth, simple, jolly, wash and wear air, and kindness drew me to him.
