PETA (the theatre group) is featuring the crazy-funny movie “Ded Na Si Lolo” on Friday, November 13, at 7.30 PM in their Quezon City headquarters (behind QC Sports/St. Lukes in E. Rod.). I have seen it and I guarantee you’ll have a grand time laughing all through out the film. Masaya ito! (Plus, there will be a discussion forum after the film’s showing.) It’s also the country’s official entry to the foreign language film category for next year’s Oscar Awards – o-ha!

Hurts,” a ballad from the upcoming indie comedy “We Got the Beat.”

We Got the Beat follows Brad Roberts (Michael Copon), a high school
star quarterback, who quits the team his senior year to turn his heavy
metal band “Suck It” into the world’s first boyband in 1982. With the
help of his mom’s boyfriend/band manager Garth (Robert Hoffman), he
finally has a chance to follow his dreams.

I Wanna Watch Boylets

I wanna watch Boylets! Blame it on this statement by the venerable gay film critic guru The Bakla Review:

A few critics will no doubt claw at this film and call it exploitation. With a barely legal cast doing nudity and sex, they certainly wouldn’t be so far from wrong. But it’s also audacious filmmaking, if a little rough around the edges, a by-product of the economy of style and production. Kudos to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for approving this movie without cuts. I wouldn’t be surprised if Boylets becomes a guilty pleasure for many, except that we shouldn’t be so guilty. Years from now, when everyone is ready, Boylets will be reassessed as an unpolished pop commentary of blazing wit and feeling. (TBR Rating: A-)

John Lloyd and Lucky

(From Yahoo/PhilStar) The “intimate scene” between Luis Manzano and John Lloyd Cruz as lovers in Star Cinema’s In My Life was finally shot last week on the Brooklyn Bridge, with the breathtaking Manhattan skyline as backdrop.

“Feel na feel nila ‘yung eksena,” reported Funfare’s Big Apple correspondent Edmund Silvestre (of The Filipino Reporter), “very realistic, which simply means that Luis and John Lloyd are good actors because, as everybody knows, pareho silang straight.”

The movie, directed by Olive Lamasan and also starring Vilma Santos (Luis’ mom playing his mom), is Luis’ most challenging. But whether or not he will finally join the ranks of John Lloyd, Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Sam Milby, Richard Gutierrez and Dingdong Dantes as big-screen leading men will be known when the film hits the theaters in September.

Male Masseurs Anyone?

It’s undeniable that a lot of our fellow PLUs (People Like Us) enjoy pampering. Fact is, most of us work like crazy, trying to prove our worth, and in the process earning a decent amount of money for our family and for ourselves. Once in a while, we get that feeling of entitlement towards the moolah we earn — “I deserve some pampering.” Work hard, play hard. I guess this is the fundamental driver of the “Male Massage” industry. Well, at lest that’s my take. A movie, “Heavenly Touch” uses this industry as a backdrop. And on the foreground? These:

HEAVENLY TOUCH
Synopsis

Nursing student RODEL (Paolo Serrano) supports his schooling by working nights as a masseur at the Heavenly Touch Spa, which offers more than massage to its mostly gay clientele. When he discovers that JONARD (Joash Balejado), a former classmate for whom he has secret romantic feelings, is in dire need of a job, RODEL teaches him basic massage skills and brings him to the spa.

Immediately, the reluctant JONARD discovers that, contrary to its name, the spa is a hellish place ruled by a vicious ex-cop, SIR TONG (Jeffrey Santos). The jolly and maternal spa manager, MAMA ORANGE (Jim Pebanco), makes up for the owner’s cruelty even as he treats SIR TONG with abject devotion.

SIR TONG has a fair-haired boy among the masseurs, BIBOY (Marco Morales), his trusted lieutenant in his illegal drug business. BIBOY takes a liking to JONARD, much to RODEL’s distaste. Soon, RODEL’s affections for JONARD can no longer be denied.

JONARD finds financial relief in dispensing massage and extra service to his gay clients. Suddenly, there’s hope for his fight against the impending foreclosure on his family’s home. RODEL also eagerly contributes his own earnings to the cause, especially the tidy sums he receives from a very generous home-service client, the lovely SHEILA (Gwen Garci).

Amidst the spa’s oppressive state of affairs and JONARD’s bleak domestic situation, romance blooms between him and RODEL.

Unfortunately, RODEL gets a terrible beating when he and SHEILA are caught in flagrante delicto by her politician benefactor. With RODEL sidelined by his injuries, JONARD has no one to turn to when his financial problem escalates. JONARD succumbs to BIBOY’s overtures, setting off a series of events that culminates in a violent confrontation between SIR TONG and RODEL.

Kris Martinez, now seemingly silent and mostly absent in the current showbiz buzz, was once upon a time a Close Up To Fame boy. The last time he was on the news was when he was promoting his movie “Green Paradise,” in November of 2007. Apparently, he was asked if he’s open to same-sex relationships, to which he answered, “Siguro, depende sa sitwasyon, depende sa tao, depende kung gaano na kami katagal magkakilala. So, kung mas kilala ko na siya as a person talaga, so why not? Bakit hindi?”

Hmmm. I can just imagine! Naughty! Hehehe!

Well and good, Mister Naughty Boy Kris Martinez. On another note, thanks for these similarly naughty pics — they literally grab your attention! Mwahs!

Alexis is a foreigner who came to the Philippines to meet his chat mate Mario. As a filipino culture, visitors are welcome by family host with welcoming party of food, fiesta and people. When Alexis visited Mario, Mario’s parents told to the neighborhood that Alexis is a girl, but surprisingly it was Alex. Mario’s mother denied that he was Alexis and introduced him as Alex the brother of Alexis to the neighborhood. His parents known about Mario’s sexuality until at the end Alexis become closer and fell inlove with Mario. With all the laugh and cry. A story of a foreigner in another country , different culture, and acceptance of love will have all a happy ending.
