Once again, Mikko Untalasco

Cute Boys, Hunks 17 comments

Mikko Untalasco The first time I featured Mikko Untalasco here in Manila Gay Guy, a good friend suddenly turned inquisitive. He claimed he has met the guy before, when Mikko was still fresh from the province (or school, I couldn’t remember) and was working in a coffee shop somewhere along Roxas Boulevard. He, my friend, did not think Mikko would become the sexy model-modelan that he was in those photos.

Interestingly, soon after that feature, I actually met Mikko in a bar in QC, not unknown as hangout for people like us. He struck me as ‘guapo’ in person, although I did feel my gaydar twitch, considering where I met him. Oh but I’m sure he was just having fun with his like-minded model-friends. (more…)

A flirty straight guy is still a straight guy.

Letters, Love and Dating 54 comments

Dear Migs!

Just wanted to commend on the success of your blog, Im one of the regular readers and comfortable reading your entries and comments and personally waiting again for you to buzzed me again when you’re in my area (San Francisco). I never thought that one day I will write to ask for an advice.

I joined a Christian community to a thought that I can be change, not….. though im trying. Just when I thought I will live a straight life when I met in the community Mac-Mac just a regular guy and not my usual type as I described him to my friends. But the guy is oozing with sex appeal. Then I remember a saying that you will never find your ideal person but instead you will be given the opposite of it and I think he is the one. Not my ideal but yet i like the person. Now the catch… he is straight again straight!

Dose: Disturbing, Very Disturbing.

Movies and Music 21 comments

When I watched Joel Lamangan’s premiere showing of “Walang Kawala” at UP Film Institute last week, there was a film trailer that was shown prior to the main feature. It was entitled “Dose.” I’d say it’s the most disturbing film trailer I’ve ever seen in my life. Here’s why — an excerpt on a feature article on the movie Dose.

* * *

One of the much-awaited entries in the forthcoming Cinema One Originals digital film fest is Dose, which promises to stir a lot of controversies. This movie marks Senedy Que’s directorial film debut after being a screenplay writer of several films, the latest of which is I.T.A.L.Y. (I Trust and Love You).

“Ang pinaka-theme naman ng movie, tipong love knows no gender,” sabi pa ni Senedy Que.

Sherwin Ordoñez Sans Undies

A review of Bertubin’s Kurap (Blink):

“If you don’t want to be used, if you don’t want to be duped … don’t ever blink!” Ronaldo Bertubin’s feisty, street-beat melodrama is wise to all the risks in a dodgy district like Quiapo in Manila. Small-time crook Ambet and his sister Luchie live in an abandoned building. A high proportion of Ambet’s dubious earnings goes on treatment for Luchie’s glaucoma, and he tries to shield her from exposure to his varied sex-life (women and men) and his line of work. But when middle-class photojournalist Marlon comes calling with a proposition that Ambet should rat on his buddies in the criminal underworld–for the sake of TV news reports which will inevitably lead to police busts–the money doesn’t quite explain why Ambet agrees. Sharing His Story Through Songs

Contribution, Letters, Love and Dating 9 comments

[This is a contribution from MGG reader named Red. Posting it here, verbatim.]

I’d like to share my own experience, though too long for the viewers’ eyes. This is something unbelievable and could make for a good script for a movie that it could even rival the story of the Brokeback Mountain. Just to find release, I’d like to see it posted in no less than Migs’ site, so that others may be enlightened or inspired, or of whatever purpose it could serve to the readers. More importantly, my story opposes that of the twink-hungry and abusive PLU (gay) teachers’ usual portrayal by the media. Let me do it by way of using Southborder’s famous songs and the songs I’d love to listen to.

I Have a Husband… and a Boyfriend

Contribution, Letters, Love and Dating 25 comments

Hello Migs. I have been a subscriber for a couple of years – in fact, when you started your chat box, we got to chat for a bit. I’m from the Bay Area, you told me you lived here for a while. Well, I finally have reason to write you a letter – the title says it all.

Yes, I have been partnered with “Dee” for 10 years now. He’s an American, a lawyer, divorced twice (he thought he was bisexual, but finally came out gay and wouldn’t have anything more to do with women), and have been told that he has Richard Gere looks. I agree. We met when I was still living in Manila and he was visiting for a conference. It was love at first sight, a la Miss Saigon. But like Chris leaving Kim, he left too – only, he came back a year later. (more…)

Top 10 Macho Dancer Movies Ever Made

Movies and Music 6 comments

The Bakla Review once again wows Migs the Manila Gay Guy with his Ten Best Macho Dancer Movies Ever. Here’s a snippet, and don’t miss reading the entire post by clicking on the link provided below.

If the Western has the Wild West with its cowboys, the Macho Dancer Movie nestles within the dark walls of the Gay Bar with its cast of gyrating, undressing male performers. Macho dancers are not to be confused with the callboy/common prostitute or the torero/live sex performer, although they can be those too. The Macho Dancer’s weapon is his particular brand of striptease. And just as the Western is American and the Samurai film Japanese, the Macho Dancer Movie is quintessentially Filipino. Is there any country other than the Philippines that can fill a top ten list of macho dancer movies with a few extra to spare? In these films, the plight of a people are played out via intermittent seductive numbers, like a musical, but hotter, where the thongs usually come off. Herewith, the zarzuelas of our time.

asl, pare?
