Kris Martinez, now seemingly silent and mostly absent in the current showbiz buzz, was once upon a time a Close Up To Fame boy. The last time he was on the news was when he was promoting his movie “Green Paradise,” in November of 2007. Apparently, he was asked if he’s open to same-sex relationships, to which he answered, “Siguro, depende sa sitwasyon, depende sa tao, depende kung gaano na kami katagal magkakilala. So, kung mas kilala ko na siya as a person talaga, so why not? Bakit hindi?”

Hmmm. I can just imagine! Naughty! Hehehe!

Hep! Don’t let that naughty thought get to you yet. By “Jun-jun” I mean the autistic child character in the 1991 Vilma Santos-Christopher de Leon starrer “Ipagpatawad Mo.” Fifteen years later, “Jun-jun” re-emerges, not anymore as an autistic child, but as a gyrating macho dancer in Twilight Dancers. Presenting, Terence Baylon! Terence also appeared in “Barang” and “I wanna be happy,” both 2006 movies as well. Now I’m pretty sure you wanna see more of this big Jun-jun, yeah? Hehehe!

Metlogs is a digital movie megged by Cris Pablo, writer and director of similarly gay-themed digital movies Duda/Doubt, Bath house, and Bilog. I watched it on Sunday night, the last night of its run in Robinson’s Galleria Indie Sine Theatre. The audience was, as expected, 90% (if not more) bading, so ang saya saya! Hehehehe! And take note, Tyron Perez was there, along with a mestiza girl date. Delicious the boy ha! Now, on to the movie review – how was it? (more…)

Gibbs Cadiz of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, in his fabulous new blog, reviews Mel Chionglo’s Twilight Dancers. Put the genre to rest, he says.

Mel Chionglo’s new film seems to be about everything–poverty, urban rot, youthful alienation, marital strife, government corruption, salvaging, unfair labor practices, teenage pregnancy, even the commercialization of school campuses, natch. But ultimately it is about nothing. Nothing new, that is. Not a single thread of this wispy, shopworn tale about male prostitution in Manila is fresh, insightful or worth a second look. That’s because its themes and preoccupations have been done to death, flogged to within an inch of the bare skins and naked souls that had overflowed in other, better movies of this sort.
